| The Summary |
This car was cheap, but had been mistreated. Fortunately,
it was structurally sound in all the right places except for part of one frame rail and
the normal door edge rust. Much of the work was done myself, but there was key involvement
by a shop for paint, and there is much more to go. Having
previously owned a 320i and having recently completed a
1970
VW Bug restoration, I mistakenly thought that 2002 parts (or a reasonable facsimile
thereof) would be readily available new (Ha !) or from swap meets in the area (Ha Ha !!)
and would be reasonable in price (Ha Ha Ha !!!) and ........ you get the idea.
Even so, I enjoyed the project and have enjoyed
meeting some true fans (not to mention fanatics) along the way. Keep on 02ing.. |
